You live in the wreckage of The Great Machine, and it simply will not stay put. As you live with the urge to survive, it lives with the urge to move. It does so in your sleep, by means you never witness, and in great bounds. It travels the world, or maybe further, with you on it's back.

It's a game!

A Short Stay is a journaling game building on Alone Among the Stars by Takuma Okada. You write a day at a time about the places you go and the places you're taken. You will need a 52 card deck (of cards),  1 or 2 6-sided dice, and a means for the creation of text.

It's a game.

This game focuses on a lonely experience where your safety and wellness will be challenged. You will have bad days and so will The Machine. This may be emotionally straining and I welcome you to walk away as necessary, under no obligation to return. You also hold unlimited right to deviate from the rules as written and warp the narrative to your personal needs.

The existence of a prompt should never be taken to define the absence of that prompt when out of play. The prompts simply drive focus. In each day you will do many things, and they may not all fit in the text you write, using your style. As such continuity is permeable, only worry about it if you enjoy doing so.
